Chess Championships and Tournaments
There are lots of indoor games that are entertaining, but the most stimulating of them all is Chess. Chess is a simple game involving logical thinking and strategy. It improves the mental ability of the player and makes one more patient. An enthusiastic beginner is bound to get addicted to it and in this game like any other practice makes perfect. That is why perhaps many work hard for international and national titles in chess tournaments.
Each year there is a lot of expectation and excitement about the international tournaments. The championship titles are much coveted and are only awarded to those who play skilful games with logical thinking. There have been many champions since the start of the world chess championship some of them winning the title twice or thrice in a row. Many players were from Russia – one of the most notable was Garry Kasparov who stated his rule over the title from 1985 to 1993. Other mentionable names are Anatoly Karpov, Alexander Khalifman, Ruslan Ponomariov, Rustam Kasimdzhanov and Veselin Topalov. The reigning champion is from India –Vishwanathan Anand.
There are many chess championship games all around the world, but the most famous of them all is the world chess championship games held among the title holders of tournaments in each country. Few countries include Argentina, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Europe, India, many Arab and Asian countries. The subcontinents also host various championship games for countries within the region. Some of them worth mentioning are the European conference, South American championship and the commonwealth games. The world chess tournament is probably the grandest event of them all with both men and women participating.
Apart from these international tournaments there are a lot of mini tournaments, Olympiads and strong chess games held for chess prodigies. All such games have one goal – boosting one’s morale and improving mental ability while trying to find the perfect strategy to win. |
